Paris Chesapeake Beach |
MD 260
· Chesapeake Beach Rd.
8.68 mi.; from MD 4 southeast to MD 261, Chesapeake Beach.
Marked east-west. The original routing of MD 260 extended west along Mt Harmony Rd to MD 4 (then MD 416). Between 1956-58, 260 was rerouted along the former right-of-way of the abandoned Chesapeake Beach Railroad, which had been used to build a new road, MD 751, sometime between 1948 and 1955. The portion of Mt Harmony Rd west of the new junction was dropped to county maintenance, and all of 751 became part of 260. The bypassed part of Mt Harmony appears curvy on the map, but the new 260 cuts straight as an arrow from northwest to southeast between MD 4 and Mt Harmony just outside Chesapeake Beach. It also just clips a southern corner of Anne Arundel County before returning to Calvert County. Associated Secret-Obscure Routes: 775 |

MD 268

0.95 mi.; from MD 279 south to MD 7(D) (Main St).
Marked north-south. Associated Secret-Obscure Routes: 727 This route is mistakenly marked as MD 727 in the new official maps. Officially, 727 only consists of the remains either side of the old Amtrak grade crossing (Old North Rd). Despite the mistakes there is a good side, the new map reinstates the closeup insets of Elkton and other significant towns (mostly county seats) outside the Baltimore-Washington-Annapolis-Frederick rectangle after an absence of many years. |
